Week van het Nieuws

The Week van het Nieuws will take place for the first time in 2026 as a pilot week, from 18–24 May. The campaign week is an initiative of RPO, the coordinating and collaborative body responsible for carrying out the public media mission at the regional level. The Netherlands Journalism Fund (SvdJ), and the Dutch Media Literacy Network (Netwerk Mediawijsheid).

Together, we bring journalism, education, libraries, and social partners together and work towards a news-literate Netherlands.

This campaign builds on the insights from the project DichterBijNieuws. In this initiative, the Dutch Media Literacy Network and a wide range of partners worked between 2022 and 2025 to strengthen the relationship between citizens and journalism.
